RESTYLANE

What is Restylane?

The resilience and youthful contours of your skin, its ability to counter the effects of time, wind and weather, owes much to hyaluronic acid found naturally in your skin and other tissues. Hyaluronic acid also plays an important role in giving volume to the skin, shape to the eyes, and elasticity to the joints. Restylane is made from NASHA gel (a non-animal stabilized hyaluronic acid). This means that there is no risk of allergic reactions and no skin testing is needed prior to treatment. Restylane is naturally integrated into the tissues and allows free passage of important elements such as oxygen and hormones thereby not disturbing the body's natural balance and allowing for natural, healthy skin. Since hyaluronic acid occurs naturally in the body, it also dissolves naturally with time, turning into water and departing without leaving any trace in your body.

How long will it last?

The effects of Restylane treatments vary with the individual. It depends on many factors such as skin structure, lifestyle, age, location of injection and the degree of perfection demanded by the patient. For most patients, the effects will remain anywhere from 4 to 8 months with most patients choosing to have a touch up within a year of the original treatment. A touch up with smaller amounts of Restylane can be performed any time you like after the previous treatment to replenish your natural beauty.

The Restylane treatment

The treatment takes about half an hour and the result is prompt. When Restylane is injected under the skin into the wrinkle or fold, the wrinkle is lifted and the fold filled out. Injections are done with fine needles under the skin and usually anesthesia is not needed, but if necessary, can easily be achieved with ice packs or even nerve blocks for the lip and mouth area. Treated areas may be slightly swollen and red for 12-24 hours. Your health care professional will give you further details concerning your specific treament during your consultation.

AM I A CANDIDATE FOR RESTYLANE?

Because Restylane is a non-animal hyaluronic acid, there is little risk of an allergic reaction. However, Restylane should not be used in candidates with a history of severe allergies manifested by history of anaphylaxis or by people with a history of multiple severe allergies. It should be avoided by pregnant women. Patients who are using blood thinning medications such as aspirin or ibuprofen may experience increased bruising or bleeding at the injection site. Your health care provider will thoroughly discuss your particular situation prior to treatment.

Restylane Fine Lines

In addition to Restylane, we offer Restylane Fine Lines for thin, superficial lines, for example around the eyes, around the mouth, and on the forehead to create a fresher and more youthful look.
