More Info on Stem Cells
As long as the hairs have not died off and are in a miniaturized state , all forms of hair loss loss remain potentially fully reversible with Stem Cell Therapy. By increasing the number and activity of Stem Cells in the hair follicles the result is a reversal of hair loss. What is a Stem Cell? Stem cells have the remarkable potential to develop into many different cell types in the body during early life and growth. In addition, in many tissues they serve as a sort of internal repair system, dividing essentially without limit, to replenish other cells as long as the person or animal is still alive. When a stem cell divides, each new cell has the potential either to remain a stem cell or become another type of cell with a more specialized function, such as a muscle cell, a red blood cell, or a brain cell. ALL CAUSES OF HAIR LOSS RESULT IN A REDUCTION IN THE NUMBER AND ACTIVITY OF STEM CELLS IN THE HAIR FOLLICLE! A. What Stem Cell Treatments are Available? There are several methods of stem cell transplants that are currently available which transfer your own adult stem cells from one location to another. Embryonic stem cells are not available. B. Types of Stem Cells? Until recently, scientists primarily worked with two kinds of stem cells from animals and humans: embryonic stem cells and non-embryonic "somatic" or "adult" stem cells. C. What are Embryonic Stem Cells? Embryonic stem cells, as their name suggests, are derived from embryos. Most embryonic stem cells are derived from embryos that develop from eggs that have been fertilized and their use is restricted by our governments. There are no legally available uses for embryonic stem cells in Canada or the US. D. What are adult stem cells Adult Stem Cells are not embryonic. Once an embryo developes into fully formed infant there are no longer any embryonic stem cells remaining. From birth onward we only have Adult Stem Cells.
